Volunteer with TASK

Volunteers are the life line of the TASK Organization. We depend upon the generosity of individuals to donate their time and talents to help make a difference in a child's life. If you are interested in becoming a TASK volunteer and making a difference, please follow the steps below. Please click to read TASK's Volunteer Policies and Procedures.

Do you have a Key Club, Honor Society, sports team or any other group of students that need service hours? We would love to make a presentation to your organization explaining more about TASK.  Please contact us at volunteer@tasksports.org.

Ryan Kulage, TASK volunteer“The TASK directors are passionate about doing everything in their power to provide special needs kids with the opportunity to just be kids. I feel honored to see this firsthand on the faces of campers year after year. It really is something special.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

A minimum of 14 Years old.

Can I get service hours for volunteering?

Yes. As long as your school, organization, church, etc., is okay with using TASK for your service hours, so are we. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot give credit for A+ service hours.

What kinds of things will I be doing as a volunteer?

Depending on the sport(s) for which you volunteer, responsibilities range from running athletic stations, shadowing individual athletes, coaching, working with a group of athletes and/or assisting other volunteers.

What kind of commitment must I make?

Most of our programs run for a period of six weeks (excluding camp, swimming and Fitness Club). Each week we meet for one hour. We ask that you commit to an entire six-week period. We have found that consistency benefits both the athlete and the volunteer.

Maura Donahue, TASK volunteer“TASK has had a huge impact on my life. I am in the deaf education field today because of my experiences with athletes at TASK. I have cherished every sporting event and camp I have helped with. The experiences and opportunities TASK has provided their athletes are truly inspiring. I look forward to watching TASK grow.”

— Maura Donahue, TASK Volunteer

Where are the programs located?

We have programs throughout the South and West County areas. For specifics, see the athletic calendar page for locations and dates.

What kind of athletes will I be working with?

TASK is very proud to say we have never turned away any athlete due to a disability. Possible disabilities you may see include Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, behavior concerns, Down Syndrome, hearing impairments, vision impairments, physical impairments or speech and language impairments.

I want to volunteer, but where do I start?
